India’s lockdown because of COVID-19 has been extended for an additional two weeks by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The ministry has also issued new activity guidelines that introduce new risk levels for individual districts. They distinguish between Red (hotspot), Orange and Green zones. In districts that are rated Green or Orange Zones, the new guidelines allow for considerable relaxation.
All travel by air, metro, rail or interstate roads continues to be prohibited, unless travelers obtain permission from the Ministry of Home Affairs (for select purposes only). Regardless of their zone, the following institutions will remain closed throughout India: Places of worship, hotels and restaurants, schools and colleges as well as movie theatres, malls, gyms and sports complexes.
