Starting October 1st 2019, all visa and permits will be processed by the Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM) regional office in Mexico City.
The INM’ national headquarters in Mexico City is no longer processing applications, therefore, processing times at the regional office will increase substantially.
The change of the filing procedure comes at a time when Mexico is struggling with visa processing delays and the change will pose a new challenge for applicants in Mexico’s capital.
In addition to the new filing procedure, increased immigration from Central America and personnel changes will affect the visa processing times in Mexico City.
When determining start dates and timelines, employers and foreign nationals applying for Mexican visas are asked to plan ahead and start the application process as early as possible.
